Ok. The one saving Grace of the show for me so far has been Anthony. He is cracking me up. When he screamed “GET OUT!” after the idiot Holocaust denier guy, I laughed hard.

2022.01.27 23:58 fonnae Zsh users are liars
I have come to the conclusion that whenever I see zsh user claim that they can do all the same things as with fish that in fact they have no real experience with fish and are just full of it. Mind you, I use vim as my daily driver, so I'm game for a good round of plugin rodeo if that's what the task requires. But holy hell I took the bait on zsh a few months ago and within a day it had me running back to fish with open arms. I had followed some popular zsh configurations that were supposed to make my command line into the ultimate tool but despite multiple plugins I found many little details and niceties still missing compared to fish and the whole experience felt very hodge podge. Therefore, whenever someone says that you can get all the same features on zsh, or worse, that they were a fish user and switched to zsh because they got all the same features, in my mind that person is immediately disqualified from having any useful opinion on the matter. By all means, use zsh if you want to, but don't go around pretending that the entire fish shell experience is trivial to replicate with a handful of zsh plugins. It ain't true. And if you think it is, you probably just overlooked a lot of the features of fish.

2022.01.27 23:58 yellowjackette JBC: Officer's Report from next-to-last arrest Aug 2020
| This officer's report (along with many clustered together around the same time) shows the tail-end of a lonnng downward spiral he was on. Multiple periods of 'homelessness', alcoholism as an excuse for violence & criminal activity, self-hatred/threats of self-harm, and blatant disregard to one of MANY protection orders that were filed against him for stalking and who-knows-what else. JBC was well on their radar and these recent events are why they wasted zero time searching his house after a girl went missing...even though he didn't have any history of crimes against children. As a reminder, LE never cleared him as a suspect in Abby & Libby's murder & the media blackout was in response to JBC's lawyer throwing a fit in court about the media attention & how it could lead to an unfair trial. He was sentenced to 90 years after pleading guilty to the April '21 crime of kidnapping, assaulting & attempted murder of a 9-year old girl that walked past his house. He filed an appeal the same day as his sentencing. Don't rule this dumpster-person out just yet. |

2022.01.27 23:58 AJANtheASIAN FT: Zamazenta Codes | LF: Offers
Still plenty of leftover Zamazenta codes. Let me know how many codes you want and what you're willing to give in return.
Not very picky as I'm mainly trying to get rid of these codes (I have packs of it), but please be reasonable with offers. I do prioritize Shiny Legends or other Shiny or Event mons, especially Shiny Zacian as I do not have SHIELD. I haven't had time to play a lot recently so I would also be willing to trade for some other cool or unique mons/aprimons (i.e. aprimon HA Alolan starters, legends I wasn't able to catch yet in the DLC, etc).
As I recently got BDSP I'll also be willing to get some mons there if preferred. I'll basically take in all mons and/or items as long as I think they're cool and reasonable.
If you do not have a Pokemon flair, fear not, I also do giveaways and contests for Zamazenta codes. Feel free to look out for those as well.

2022.01.27 23:58 cardboard_oracle [FN] The Day Before Discovery
Memories are a fickle thing. They change and morph as people grow together and apart. We see the light, we see the dark. We interpret our actions, the actions of others, the whole event tone by the whim of our moods. The best memories, the ones that kindle our soul, seem exempt from this phenomenon. Everything replays in stark detail, soothing and then igniting our passions. Over and over.
We lie on our backs in the grass, opposite directions, our heads near touching, starting into the endless sky. The clouds overhead drift lazily, curling and swirling into a myriad of shapes and creatures. Arms up to the sky, I trace them with my fingers in the air. Outlining, caressing their shape, imaging their possibilities.
“Maggie, what do you dream of?” I ask.
“Hmm?” she responds idly, turning to look at me.
I mirror her movements, our eyes aligned and I am struck once again by her grace and beauty. Her brilliant blue eyes that are magnified by the round glasses on her perfect button nose. The line of her jaw, the curve of her lips when she smiles. I am almost ready to give anything to stay here, as we are, for eternity. “What do you dream of?” I ask again. “Where would you like your life to go?”
She frowns, her forehead wrinkling, her eyebrows drawing together. Those beautiful lips purse as she thinks over my question. “I don’t understand. My life is here, with the library, with my studies, with my family.”
“You don’t dream of anything more?” I press.
Her frown deepens and there is a flicker of worry. She has such expressive eyes, never one to hide what she is thinking. I am overwhelmed with regret for being the source of that concern clouding her eyes. “Should I?” she responds.
I prop up on my elbow and look down at her. “Think of all the possibilities out there. Think of the books we love. Think of the adventures. Think of the monks that scale mountains to give tribute to the gods, the scholars who find new ways to change magic and lives, the heroes who rise from nothing to save the innocents. How would it feel to be one of them? To help and work for the good of many? To see the sights, experience the chill of the mountain air grasping at your cheeks, or the heat of the desert pressing in on your body, or the shifting of the world as you cross a suspended bridge? None of those entice you? You aren’t intrigued by the existence of...more?”
She sighs and sits up, crossing her legs at the ankles, her fingers plucking at the grass. There have been many, many versions of this conversation in the past and they usually go nowhere. After a minute of charged silence, she says heavily, “Yes, Fluxx, they do, but not in a practical manner. This is my life. I know where and what I’m meant to be.” She turns back to look at me and her head is framed by the clouds in the sky, almost forming a crown around her head. I blink and the clouds have shifted and swirled into new configurations.
“Those people in the stories? They aren’t us,” she continues. “Yes, there are people out there that do experience those things. They are few and far between though, and that’s what makes their stories so fantastical. Because they are outside the norm. But we?” she gestures between us. “We are the norm. We are the average existence for the majority of the world. As much as it pains me to say so, it’s the truth. The sooner you come to terms with that, the sooner you’ll find your place.” Sympathy floods her face as she looks at me. She believes there’s an unequivocal truth to her words. She’s meant for nothing more than what she can bring to our small, isolated community.
I lie back and turn to look at the sky and morphing clouds again. Flipping, spinning, tripping across the sky. Creating creatures and shapes in impossible configurations before collapsing in and restarting anew. It is at this moment I realize that there isn’t so much difference between Maggie and the clouds. They both are making the best of the situation, following where the wind guides them. A set path is laid out and they are content to follow along passively.
But not me. I feel as though I might burst with anticipation. The passion for something more builds within me, stronger than ever before. I have never felt committed to this small fishing village life. Never committed to a mostly-absent parent and a judgmental community. There’s more out there, I can feel it in the depths of my being. I’ve always known it.
I don’t feel the winds of change. I feel the perfect stillness, the freedom of choice in an open sky.

2022.01.27 23:58 Accomplished-Coat404 [Polar Express] The Train Engineers Were Children Who Stayed On The Train
So, I’ve recently been watching the Polar Express a bit (three children, not my choice lol) and have been talking fan theories with my boyfriend about the characters and the story, right? Well, as we watched, I wondered who the two engineers driving the train were. Then it hit me: they HAVE to be two children who stayed on the train after being picked up. Who else could they be?
What backs up this theory is the fact that 1) if you look closely, you’ll notice the red-haired man’s pants are too short on him; 2) his hair and beard are INSANELY long. Like, 30+ years of it growing out and never being cut long. And 3) because him and the bigger bald man have very deep, southern accents, and don’t talk very grammatically correct, as if they were still children.
So, we’re not sure if they’re orphans or if they chose to stay on the train as children, but I can almost guarantee that they boarded the P.E. as children and just never got off lol. Just thought it was an interesting take since nobody ever mentions them when talking Polar Express fan theories, it’s always about Tom Hank’s characters lol.

2022.01.27 23:58 AshySnickers Taking a break from teaching because of learning loss?
I'm a 1st year teacher. This year has been exhausting. I still love teaching! Yet, I feel completely overwhelmed and depressed about many of my student's development issues caused by pandemic lack of accountability, trauma, and learning loss. I'm also frustrated with teaching during the pandemic as it continues.
Have any of you considered taking a break to let some of this pass over?
Honestly, I need to get my master's done eventually. I'm really, really considering quiting my position to do school and come back in a couple years, when... idk, maybe things are more normal?
What's your prediction on COVID's long term inpact on education?
